About Paithan

Paithan is an Assembly constituency in Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) district of Maharashtra. Known historically as Pratishthan, it was the capital of the Satavahana dynasty and holds immense archaeological and cultural significance.

The constituency is home to the Jayakwadi Dam on the Godavari river, one of the largest dams in Maharashtra. Paithan is also world-famous for its Paithani sarees — exquisite silk fabrics that are a pride of Maharashtra's heritage.
